Research Experience

Research Assistant - AI/ML Laboratory

Southern Utah University

• Developed a multi-sensor fusion framework for planetary rover localization using GPR, IMU, and wheel encoders under GPS-denied conditions.
• Implemented Extended Kalman filtering for nonlinear state estimation (abstract submitted to EMI 2026).
• Redesigned 4-layer control PCBs with optimized stack-up and decoupling network layout to reduce switching noise.

May 2025 – Present

Undergraduate Research: 5G Self-Interference Cancellation Antenna

Southern Utah University

• Designed a dual-fed microstrip at 2.45 GHz and integrated it with a quadrature coupler methodology for −43 dB port isolation.
• Demonstrated strong self-interference cancellation in the desired band, addressing full-duplex challenges [I-ETC 2026 submission].

Spring 2025

Capstone: Low-Cost Dual-Band Radar System

Southern Utah University

• Designed, implemented, and experimentally validated a bistatic 5.8 GHz SDR-based FMCW radar and a 24 GHz Doppler radar within a $1,000 budget.
• Engineered intermediate frequency (IF) processing pipelines via MATLAB to bypass the need for an expensive VNA, relying instead on 200 MHz oscilloscopes with VISA drivers.
• Conducted controlled measurements on a 24 GHz K-LC7 front-end, evaluating FMCW ranging limitations on small-RCS drones.
